A little bit about meI’m Jorge, but everyone calls me Jojo.
Cuban-born. Miami-based. Designer by training, Creative Director by way of asking too many questions.
I got into this because I loved making things look good. Turns out, I love figuring out what they should be even more. What are we actually trying to say? Why should anyone give a sh*t? And what's the one idea strong enough to hold the whole thing together?
I like complicated problems and simple ideas. I don't particularly care whether the answer ends up being a film, a brand, a website, a room, or something people walk into on the street. The medium comes later. The idea has to survive first.
I've made things for Volkswagen, the U.S. Census, the Philadelphia Eagles, Visit Philadelphia and a bunch of others along the way. I've worked across automotive, sports, tourism, healthcare, technology, entertainment, education, government, and culture. Different industries, different audiences, different problems. The job is always the same: find something worth saying and make people care.
Some of it has won awards. Some of it probably should have. All of it made me better at the next thing.
I'm still a designer at heart, so I'll probably still notice bad kerning when everyone else has gone home, but these days I'm just as interested in finding the idea, building the right people around it, and getting the thing into the world without sanding off everything that made it interesting.
Outside of work, there's usually a film I think you should see, a record playing too loudly, something cooking, or an AC Milan match ruining my afternoon.
I take the work seriously.
Myself, a little bit less so.
